=BACKGROUND= *MOTTO '"First, donβt fuck up."' *Konstantinos Thalassophilos (a.k.a. 'K', 'Doc' or 'Doctor K') grew up shortly after Recontact in a native community happy to see high technology return to Poseidon. As a boy, he was especially fascinated by the traders and travellers who would hop from community to community offering goods and services. The devices and technology they brought with them fired his imagination about the wider world. That curiosity first expressed itself in a love of tinkering with machines, but soon it transferred itself to the idea of becoming one of those travellers himself and he was fortunate to get hired by a flying doctor as a mechanic and dogsbody. When his mentor died, K inherited the business, putting the medical knowledge he'd picked up informally to good use. In the meantime, as the Long John rush gathered pace, he'd soured somewhat on Recontact, and he began to see himself as someone who brought a little social justice to the world in his work repairing both people and machines in far-flung places. Unfortunately for K, he had one fatal flaw: he's a dick. His talent for medicine is an outgrowth of his talent for machines and he sees himself as an important crusader for justice. Neither trait makes for a good bedside manner or businessman. His business suffered and he eventually sought help by teaming up with others with a better head for the personal side of things. This allows him to concentrate on the travelling and repairing he's really interested in.
