== Fist of the Ruby Phoenix== Fighting tournaments are not an unknown phenomenon on Golarion, of course. In fact, just about every nation has their own variants on them. This is a world of powerful adventurers and warriors and wizards. The cheering crowds love to see the most talented of these people test themselves against their peers. But there is one tournament that stands above them all. The Ruby Phoenix Tournament. Held once every ten years in the city of Goka on the Western coastline of Tian Xia, it is known across the entire world. Established three centuries ago, as the bequest of the powerful sorceress Hao Jin, the titular Ruby Phoenix; after she disappeared, her will stipulated that her massive vault of treasures, held beneath the Grand Bank of Abadar, would be given away, one item per decade, to the winner of the tournament. This is a prize beyond measure, Hao Jin collected treasures and magical artifacts in untold numbers during her career on dozens of worlds and dozens of planes. Almost anything imaginable could be found in her vault. And so with this prize at stake, the greatest of warriors and wizards sought entrance into the tournament, turning it into the greatest spectacle the world knows. The rewards are great, and thus, the greatest possible contenders come each tournament to try to claim the prize. From those seeking to prove themselves the greatest fighters of their generation, to those seeking even more wealth and power. Any tactics or combat styles are welcome. Fists, blades, magic, stealth, etc. What matters is victory and impressing the crowd. This year will be the thirty-second Ruby Phoenix Tournament, and it will be a different one. For a few years ago, Hao Jin returned from Axis, the Eternal City; where she’d been trapped for centuries and not dead, as many believed. She was quite pleased with the tournament, and has kept it going, to disburse her treasures to the winners. Therefore, she will be the grand judge this year. To even receive an invitation to the tournament, even if you don’t win or even place, is a great honour. Only the greatest fighters and spellcasters are invited; those who have proven themselves through great deeds and accomplishments. An invitation means that you’ve made it. Contenders fight as either individual or members of a team, with a team of four being the most common size. The prize remains the same regardless of how many team members, so that discourages larger teams. Your group has received an invitation and chosen to compete, for whatever reasons you decide. This tournament, thirty-two teams have been selected. A pretournament qualifier will whittle that down to eight teams that will take part in the tournament proper. The qualifier will be on the island of Bonmu, a remote tropical island home to many, many different threats and dangers for the challengers to prove themselves again. Welcome to the Thirty Second Ruby Phoenix Tournament! Good luck, and good fortune.
