Shatner is a troubled, lonely youth who never seems to fir into any one community for very long. He is troubled by a tiny inner voice which constantly urges him to cause trouble or make poor decisions which he soon comes to regret. On more than one occasion he has come back to himself with blood on his hands or other evidence of evil deeds and no recollection of the acts themselves. He travels the barren wastelands alone more often than not, seeking new life, new civilizations, a place where he can fit in, and a cure for his terrible infliction - always trying to atone for his past deeds, but rarely succeeding.
