==The Temple of Nerull== ===Location=== The Temple of Nerull is situated in Steepside, an area of the city close to the Top. This part of the city is built up the side of a very steep hill with the road snaking up through the district to the flatter regions of the Top. The hill-side of the road is lined with large houses and temples and a great number of the temples of the city are situated here. The Temple of Nerull is towards the bottom of Hill Road, the main road through Steepside, and it sits off a small square formed at one of the places Hill Road cuts back on itself to go up the hill. ===The Building=== Made of dark granite, the Temple of Nerull has no windows to the outside. The only entrance to the building is a pair of gothic, iron doors leading onto the square. Each door is decorated with the grinning skull of Nerull. The building design is a stepped pyramid, in essence like a square of granite with a smaller square on top and a smaller square on top etc. It’s about 60 feet high. Silver guttering runs around the edge of each layer and down the edges of each corner. On sacrifice days, a pump runs the blood up to the top of the building where it runs down the gutters and through drains into great collecting chambers underneath the temple. Inside, the temple if all dark corridors of black marble, unadorned with any decoration. Heavy, unmarked iron doors lead into all the rooms and the overall effect is extremely dark and it seems to swallow sound and light. Illumination is provided by sticks of crystal housed in slots in the wall that glow gently. Around the outside of the building are the habitation cells of the disciples that live within the temple and further into the building are the quarters of the higher priests, torture chambers, sacrificial chamber and the altar of death. The main chamber of the temple is dominated by a massive obsidian statue of the Reaper himself with a chipped and worn altar at the bottom for sacrifices. ===Temple Personnel=== The high priest of the temple appears only on holy days to make sacrifices and preach to the disciples. His face is covered the entire time and his identity is unknown. He could be any of the high ranking members of the temple or even someone who doesn’t serve normal duties there. Only the highest echelons of the cult know his identity. The day to day running of the temple is handled by the Revenant. It is he that preaches to the disciples on normal days and handles the administrative side of the temple. <br> [http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/Sempere << Back to Sempere main page]
