Enrolling in the Academy, Shath gravitated towards the command track, seeing this as his way of getting a ship of his own to explore with, as well as it being a good fit for his quiet brand of charisma. Minoring in sciences as well, especially Astronavigation kept him, he thought, well-rounded if a little sleep-deprived.<br>

During a field exercise, where Shath was placed in command of a small team of cadets as a way of training for high-stress situations, Shath suffered a minor breakdown from the demands of issuing commands to the others that could wind up sending them into harm's way, harm that he felt he should go into himself first
