= Background = The Harvester of Six-and-Grim Sorrows, or “Grim” for short, was born to a pair of run-away Sijanese Deadspeakers, who were forced to abandon Sijan as their marriage was not condoned on the grounds of an ancient feud only half remembered by some ghostly ancestors. From an early age, Grim learned some practices of ancestor worship and communing with the dead. He soon set out, together with his slightly older twin sister Triumphant Star, to act as a form of wandering ancestor monk, contacting recently deceased people and fulfilling their last earthly business. One such last wish pitted the duo against a Forest King. The following battle was swift and ended with the gruesome death of both siblings. During his dying moments, Grim was approached by the Mask of Winters, who promised him a peaceful world, where the living and dead had been unified. He would just need someone to act as his knife, precisely pruning the things that stopped this vision from becoming true. So Grim chose to take his Last Breath, slaughtered the Forest King and begun his Deathknight training under the tutelage of the Mask of Winters. Only during the Fall of Thorns a few years later did Grim discover that the vision presented to him was a lie and that wanton slaughter and disregard were acceptable and encouraged by the Mask of Winters. Grim fled and made his way to Sijan, where he established some contacts to the Mortician’s Order, acting as a kind of enforcer and deniable asset for the Deadspeakers in particular. He plans to look for the ghost of his sister, hoping that she can help him come up with a plan that would allow him to stop the atrocities of the Mask of Winters and yet maybe still bring about this peaceful coexistence of the dead and the living he saw so many years ago
