===Background=== Fire. A living, breathing thing. Feed it and it grows. Smother it and it suffocates. And it so desperately longs to run free. Illyria knows this. She's always known it, for as long as she's known anything. Even as an infant she would stare into the hearth-fire as it burned down to embers. As a little girl, she could draw a spark from flint and iron with the lightest touch. As a teen, she didn't need them. It wasn't bad, being the village's creepy fire girl. When wicked agents of Summer called the rains upriver in a vain attempt to drown Shevyn's great city, the river had still risen enough to flood her village, and only she could call flame from the soaked firewood and save the village hearths, and for a time she was celebrated, piled with gifts of gratitude. But alas, it didn't last. When half the village burned, blame obviously turned to her. Which wasn't entirely unfair; she had, in fact, caused the fire. It wasn't that she'd wanted to hurt anyone, or just called forth the fire to watch the flames. That wasn't the point. That was never the point. Fire brings warmth and cooked food, and drives away the wild beasts. That's what she'd tried to do, as she saw the vines starting to creep up the walls of the cottages with unnatural speed. She called forth fire to burn them back, before the vines choked and strangled and released their poisons. But wet, vibrant greenery is poor food for fire, and she lost control as its overwhelming hunger flared. And so the village was saved, but not if you ask them about it. Perhaps here, she'll be able to learn more control... or, at least, be prepared to go where runaway fire will only burn out the Fey.
