=Notes= Natalia d'Est (the family name is assumed) was the daughter of an icon painter in a city in the lands that erupt between the Adriatic, the Aegean and the Black Seas. An only child, she learned the unvarying formulae of how to paint the perfect, eternally unchanging blessed saints, but she wanted to do more, learn more, experiment more. She was constantly in trouble for testing new color combinations, drawing dead birds, and otherwise refusing to stay within the lines. When the exciting new Renaissance knowledge and art styles began trickling in, Natalia went wild with excitement. Her family clamped down, so she ran away with a charismatic Toreador, Safiye, who appeared to be a Turkish or Greek woman of great wealth who offered support of Natalia’s experiments and interest in the new arts. Safiye lost little time Embracing Natalia and then traveled with her through various centers of the arts and learning, encouraging her Childe to learn what she could for a long, long future of arts and delights. Natalia is quite sociable and fascinated by people. She adores beauty, and will sometimes stop whatever she is doing to pull out her journal and draw in it. Now her sire has lost interest in her and found new interests. Natalia has come to Florence where the concentration of minds and artists is irresistible. Natalia has a Retainer, Ghostanza, a confidante and ghoul who helps take care of her household and studio. She also has a Herd of three people: Rinaldo, a caretaker at the library of San Marco; Ginevra, a widowed dealer in leathers, parchments and paper; and Federigo, an old ex-soldier who likes to hang around the tavern and tell tall tales.
