With the outbreak of peace, the sense of constant, frantic urgency that had driven the heartbeat of the supply train evaporated.

But Cat still couldn't sleep.

There had been murmurs among the transport pilots. Prisoner transfer runs, but only taking one or two at a time, and they weren't allowed to check on their 'passengers' on arrival to the new facility. Some thought that maybe one of the higher-ups was trying to kill as many Browncoat prisoners as possible, as off-the-books as possible, out of spite. Others thought maybe they were getting shaken down by Intelligence for where the supply caches, leadership bunkers, and anything else that die-hard dissidents might find useful to continuing a guerilla war.

Either way, more than a few weren't comfortable that their ships might be used for executions. Cat included.

And then she got one of the prison transfer assignments. She'd snuck an extra zipline parachute aboard, and hid it under the chair the prisoner was tied down to. Sure enough, just before getting out over water, she saw the parachute opening on her rear sensors.

Command wasn't happy, but officially reprimanding her for it would require making a lot of embarrassing details part of the record. So that was when she mustered out.
