==Background== Kii doesn't remember life in the realm of the Fae. He doesn't remember his childhood. His earliest recollection is of living on his own in the deep forest. He might still be there if an army hadn't marched through and pressed him into service as a cook's helper. Kii learned much from the talented halfling, becoming skilled at cooking and seasoning food in his own right. He might still be among the army's camp followers doing ''that'' if the army hadn't been overrun by the army they were marching to meet. With few choices that ended up with him still being alive at the end of the confrontation, Kii took up a fallen short sword and defended the poorly armed and trained camp followers. Having no training himself, Kii relied on his wits and inhuman reflexes to survive and prevail. In the aftermath, his deeds came to the attention of the army's surviving ranking officer - a young dirt-britches lieutenant at that point - who forced a field promotion on him and assigned a raw but friendly corporal to train him how to kill and not get killed. Kii remained a soldier for a long time, but he left the army when that same dirt-britches lieutenant - now a commander - marched his army into the exact sort of ambush that had decimated them years before. Kii didn't even stay to fight when the horns sounded. He used all his agility and stealth to slip out of the camp unseen - or so he believes. He hasn't seen any parchments bearing his likeness nailed up in anyone's town square, in any case.
