===Background===

The girl Yumemiru Kurimu is eccentricity incarnated, due in no small part to her unusual upbringing. A test tube baby born to a pair of lesbians using donated sperm, Kurimu was brought up by two mothers and no father. Her one mother is Molly Morrison, an inventor with more than one hundred patented inventions. While some of Molly's inventions are well-received and earned the family a small fortune, most of her inventions go into the storage the moment they're invented. Kurimu's other mother, Moriyama Moriko, is a mildly famous mangaka with many cult-favorite works. Curiously, despite having a Japanese name, Kurimu is born to Molly, who is of British origin.

Given her background, it comes as no surprise that Kurimu is an imaginative girl full of ideas so fantastic that they're mostly impossible. But her mothers encourage her to dream big, so she has no fear in pursuing what she wants at the moment. She has learned many things, has passing knowledge about everything but in-depth knowledge about ''nothing''. As a result, she's a literal Jack of All, Master of None - she can do anything, but satisfaction is mostly ''not'' guaranteed.

Kurimu has two nicknames: Cream and Catgirl (or Kitten, Kitty or Neko, among other variants). Cream is rather self-explanatory; she is called Catgirl for the following reasons: Kurimu is nocturnal. She is particularly energetic at night, when she studies, exercises, plays video games or do whatever that strikes her fancy at the time. However, a girl gotta get her sleep somewhere. As a result, Kurimu is always sleepy during day time. That's not all; she also has a very short attention span, is easily distracted by moving objects and express affection by nibbling people.
