==Personality:==
Verdan is usually quiet and serious. Some of this is innate; he tended to be a loner even as a child, preferring books and study to large groups and loud parties, and his experiences have only exacerbated his tendency to isolation. His parents, as part of their plan to prepare him to join the family business, required that he receive instruction in etiquette and interaction. As a result he can be charming and friendly at need, but the performance is a cover for a far more solemn personality.

While his dedication to study is obvious to the most casual observer, far better hidden is Verdan's intensely competitive drive. This is true in athletics - he was a competitive swimmer as a youth and through his time at the Ministry of Science - academics, and every other activity. While he is driven by a need to be the best, Verdan is not inclined to rivalries or resentment of those who beat him. Instead both his need to win and his frustration with failing are turned inward into a self-imposed requirement for perfection in all things, no matter the time or effort needed to achieve this goal.
