==History== Lief comes from a family of Danish florists and gardeners, famed for the beauty of their plants. Growing up, Lief was surrounded by the glories of growing plants, a subject that fascinated him. Plants were so amazing! But... they were so helpless. They could grow from tiny seeds so quickly, and be grafted onto each other, and regrow from such damage, but they couldn't even pick bugs off of themselves or move around! He realized very quickly that the only solution was to combine the strengths of both groups, by creating beings that erased the line between the two! He started from both ends, infusing plant tissue into animals and vice versa, ultimately growing Iris from a strain of Deadly Nightshade, and transforming his pet dog into the all-devouring hybrid called Shaggy. Iris immediately took to Lief's cause, and began encouraging him to take things further. It was around this time that Lief's parents took notice of their son's unusual interests and talents. Of course, as responsible parents, they could only encourage their son's dream, but finding a good school that could showcase his talents was terribly difficult... and then they found the Academy. Lief was a bit surprised at the admissions procedures to the Academy-- for one thing, the suggestion that he document an experiment with a human subject wasn't the sort of thing that he'd expected to find. It proved to be the incentive he needed to finally begin experimenting on himself, however, and he was quite pleased with the results-- he was tougher, healed with amazing speed, and wasn't poisoned every time Iris touched him. Clearly, this school was pointing to the path to the future!
