=Backstory= Lanty Prosperina is the youngest daughter of the wealthy, well-connected, important Prosperina family; they are particularly important in the priesthood, running what is arguably the most powerful temple in town. Furthermore, about a quarter of the family, instead of being human, are Aasimar; they are, of course, regarded as both proof of the family's divine connections and as golden children in their own right. Lanty's generation is particularly blessed, with every child Lanty's age being Aasimar of one type or another, including her older sisters Arty and Thena, famed as scholars and student council members. Unfortunately for Lanty, she's a Tiefling. (A Zariel Tiefling if you want to be specific about it, but it doesn't matter for the sake of her family.) Oh, her family is *so* sweet and *so* supportive of her, and just so *understanding* about the ways that she just cannot ever measure up to her older sisters. Not that that bothers her. Honest. To be fair to Lanty, she's actually pretty awesome. Granted, she's no scholar, but she's a gifted athlete, very strong, pretty, good at talking to people. She's had no trouble with her Paladin major, which requires dedication, determination and athleticism, and she'd got all those. She does sports, and does quite well; she'd be the apple of the eye of practically any other family. But deep down, she knows that she can never, ever measure up to her sisters, in the eyes of her family, and in her own eyes, as well. She lives at home; it's a huge house adjacent to the temple grounds. Her parents are in what appears to outsiders to be a perfectly happy marriage; they keep their actual status entirely out of the public eye, and even put on a face of perfectly proper happiness in front of their children, but the three daughters know the truth-- they haven't been happy together for years and years. Some people feel that Lanty is probably directly related to the cause of that unhappiness, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense if that's the case-- her mother isn't rumored to be in any outside relationships that could have gotten her pregnant, and aside from being a Tiefling, Lanty looks very much like the rest of the family. Moreover, her father is surprisingly supportive of her, although he generally isn't very tender with her when others are looking. In any case, the family has secrets, and rumors swirl about what they might be. The daughters, in turn, feel pressure to excel, and to bring-- and, implicitly, restore-- honor to the family's name. Which is why Lanty chose the Oath of Glory. Besides, she's very fond of sports, especially team sports, and perhaps it's just the kind of thing she needs to finally really shine in the eyes of the public... and to feel accepted in her own family. (Her sisters, in fact, don't bully her, but they also don't know how to relate to her at all.)
