===Background=== Marzhin was born to a human parent amongst the tribes of the Clanlands, and raised there. His elven parent stayed for a decade or so but, as elves do, moved on. Marzhin grew up human, but knew there was something of the elf about him as he aged more slowly than any of his peers. When his human parent died, Marzhin was still a young man, and he left to travel. Wandering away from the caravan he was camping with, he somehow noticed that what seemed to be nothing more than some moss-covered rocks was actually a fallen shrine. He righted the stones, saw the celestial symbols, and made an offering. Though he rarely dreamed, that night he experienced visions of unparalleled clarity. He was visited by the Wyrd, one of the three ancient empyreans which sit at the roots of the Tree at the Centre of the Cosmos, weaving the fate of the world. The Wyrd wanted to see who had restored her shrine for nothing more than curiosity. They spoke, and the Wyrd learned much of the Blackbird. By the next morning, when Marzhin awoke, he and the Wyrd had entered into a pact - an exchange. For every secret he brought her, she would teach him one of her own. And so his real travels began. He sought out scholars and sages, mages and shamen. He spent time across the realms, plucking secrets from forgotten ruins and gathering them from occult enclaves. Always he would find something to trade. Along the way he met his two companions, Svarthauk and Aelfrham. All three stood apart, somehow, from the majority Dwarven and even Clanlands societies, and perhaps that helped them forge the bonds which saw them become the Blackfeathers.
