=Background= Zahir spent most of his life traveling with his family of musicians. While he and his family were at the mercy of the road, bandits and the fickleness of those that could afford entertainment, Zahir grew envious of the lifestyles of the rich and powerful as he sang for them. He couldn't live in the back of a wagon, tasting dirt from the road, and never knowing if they would find another patron or starve in the winter. He wanted a life of wealth and opulence, soft beds and beautiful servants, and of power and stability. All he knew was of the various peoples and places he had seen in his travels, but there were those that would pay for his wisdom and insight. He snuck away from his family, to offer his wisdom and advice to those that often dealt with people from afar: wealthy merchants and nobles. Through his sounds advice (and blackmail and lies) he became a vizir in Maukai. At the seat of power, he embezzled money, blackmailed people in power and twist a bureaucracy to serve his wishes, all to increase his influence and enrich himself. Things went well until House Cynis decided he had become more trouble than he was worth. He barely managed to escape the palace alive, swearing vengeance and already planning what he would do next. Unable to match the power of a dragonblooded Zahir went in search of a sorcerers mentor. Finally discovering an Ifrit, who at first was reluctant to grant such power to one as selfish as him. It was a great debate, but the in the end the Ifrit decided the world might be better off without a mortal as selfish as this. Only a timely Exaltion as Zahir stood to face the angry Ifrit stayed the beings hand. Seeing the blessing bestowed on Zahir, the Ifrit relented hoping that along his quest to destroy House Cynis Zahir might learn something about heroism. Zahir now travels, helping those hurt by House Cynis foul trade and ignored by their of leaders. His heroism is cynical, but oddly he has found himself sleeping better after freeing some slaves or saving a village from a monster.
