== Background == The Seer-tale of the last 11 arcs === Kolmothr Clan === Bromar grew up in Kolheim, stronghold of the Kolmothr clan. It was a very small stronghold that served as the origin point for many other strongholds, thanks in part to the survival rate of those who served in the stronghold, and to the economical prosperity of the clan. Most of the Kolmothr clan is from one of the satellite cities, but those who are from Kolheim bear the honor of being called "Farkral Belmalk." In recent years the satellite cities of the Kolmothr clan have fragmented or been destroyed. Another clan, the Gurfeldt, formed out of some remaining cities to the southeast that were forced to band together after being cut off from the rest of the clan. The Gurfeldt still speak the Kolmothr dialect. The Kolmothr got their name from the flaking black stone found long ago under their stronghold. This stone, called the "Black Wrath" for its ability to burn under its own indignant rage, was seen as a sign that the mountains themselves have born the burden of being under the Shadow for far too long. The kolmothr mines deep under Kolheim have been spent for centuries, but the clan has secured other sources of the mineral from nearby locations and continues to develop its extensive mining tunnels far under the Kaladruns to secure the material. The term for the flammable stone is colloquially referred to as "kol" by most. === The Draugadrottin === One of Bromar's earliest adventures was as a hired fighter for a huskarl named [[Bromar#Allies|Dakul]]. They were sent to raid a caravan carrying supplies for the Shadow's forces to Lardun. While on the return trip, the expedition split, some returning with the spoils and Dakul leading a small band on a new mission to discover why dwarves have gone missing in a region normally not patrolled by the Shadow's forces. What they uncovered was an encampment being protected by huge flying insect-like [http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG234.jpg beasts]. During a fight with the creatures, Bromar summoned the last reserves of his bravery and bolted into the encampment, retrieving what he thought might be a clue as to the disappearance of the local dwarves. What he found was something far more illuminating. Once deciphered, the notes that Bromar retrieved told of a prophecy written by beings who remembered the time before the Sundering. They had seen through the veil of time and shadow to a being who could live as ghost and man at once. The authors of the prophecy told of the potential of the being to unite the spirits of Aryth's dead against the Shadow in the North. The tale spread among the loremasters of the dwarves. They began to refer to this being as the Lord of Ghosts, as the writing gave no other term or name. '''Draugadrottin''' is the old dwarven word that means "lord of ghosts." The prophecy is vague in its description, telling little about how to find the Draugadrottin. It tells first they must find the Hroptyr ki Hoarr Bileygr, or "hidden one of the feeble-eyed one." A dark creature or monster called Thirgaa'is would give its life, or sacrifice something great, in order to bring forth the Draugadrottin. Because Bromar retrieved these writings, the loremasters referred to him as ''Orm Brond Draugadrottin''. === The Blothbronda Tohlek === Bromar is the general of an entire tohlek (dwarven for "shield," an army made up of a collection of smaller units) called the Blothbronda, or "Blood Horde". The tohlek once had five zuhr (dwarven for "brace," the smallest unit in the clan dwarf armies). Most of the tohlek was lost during the battle that lead to the survivors' enslavement. While enslaved in the shipyards of Fallport, Bromar has recruited a number of other followers in his subrosa army. ==== The Tohlek Today ==== '''Herran Zuhr''' - lead by Captain Falral Mornore. The "herran" are the soldiers of honor, bound to defend dwarven lands. The word means "one of the host," and these units make up the majority of the forces holding the keeps of the clans.<br> '''Hurswic Zuhr''' - lead by Captain Bjergi Kogahjord. Bjergi is a female Krugun barbarian that joined Bromar's army while enslaved. The hurstwic is a Kurgun axe-holder. These units traditionally fight with two urutuks.<br> '''Tahla Herran Zuhr''' - lead by Captain Ufauld Orr Kolmothr. Ufauld Orr is not [[Bromar#Kolmothr Clan|Farkral Belmalk]], but she is from one of the Kolmothr clan cities. The tahla herran are those dwarves who typically perform raids or who have less-martial responsibilities in war.<br> ===== Commanders ===== '''Ottar Swarthy''', Bromar's right-hand man, is set over all three zuhr. In battle the captains usually guide their zuhr without his aid, but he is responsible for the tactical planning for the army. A recent friend of Ottar's is the gnome Bogdan Waykor. He serves the tohlek as the quartermaster, but is loyal to and serves directly under Ottar. Even the other captains treat Bogdan with some respect, due to his position. <br> '''Lorekeep Kilent Whurtha''' is a dwarven loremaster-in-training that Bromar met in Fallport. He'd spent most of his life in the northlands and longs to return to the Kaladruns. He has extremely good relations with dorns and some of the slaves in the shipyards are loyal to him as their leader. They are "sorok" dorns, clanless, and serve only Kilent.<br> '''Laugrekki Jædr Dorshatr''' is Bromar's squire. In training to be a huskarl himself someday, Jædr assumes a position of leadership (or at least the figure of a public leader) when Bromar is not available. Only Ottar Swarthy is above him in the hierarchy of Bromar's tohlek. Most recognize that Jædr not only presents a possible successor to Bromar's leadership, but a viable leader for a new zuhr, and therefore a new opportunity for military advancement.
