==Background==
Sean Mahoney grew up in the swamps and forests to the west of Antrim, Ireland. His father was the local game warden and was responsible for a large portion of land, north of Lough Neagh. Sean's mother and father owned a small plot of land on the outskirts of Antrim. Sean and his two younger sisters, along with their grandfather lived on this small family farm. While Sean's father worked and his mother took care of the household, Sean was able to spend a large amount of time with his Grandfather, Paddy.

Paddy was an odd duck by everyone's standards, but he loved his grandchildren and spent every waking hour he could with them. Paddy was a member of a Fenian Brotherhood, the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB), a fraternal organization dedicated to the establishment of an independent Irish Republic. They would hold druidic ceremonies as a form of cultural resistance. Paddy was born about a thousand years too late and was convinced that the going back to the old ways was the only way to survive the coming darkness.

One night his father asked Paddy and Sean to help him track down some poachers in the area. The events of that night are never spoken of but they changed Sean view of the world. They all believe that they witnessed the Great Hunt, whose victims where the very poachers that Sean's father was looking for.

Shortly after this incident Sean's parents took Sean to a flying circus and Sean fell in love with flying. At the age of 18 Sean left home to learn to fly. He took any job that would allow him to fly. He even spent a couple years with the flying circus that gave him his love of flying. When the war broke out Sean joined the Royal Air Force, unfortunately his Irish heritage has worked against him and he has only recently been given a position with a fighter squadron.
