Yir Tangee, not far off the Hydian Way in the Colonies, is a temperate planet of lush plains, rolling hills, and young mountains.  Humans settled it and -- for many years -- subsisted on a bountiful agricultural industry, importing foodstuffs and livestock.  Although plenty of ore could be found in the mountains and the upper crust of the planet, mining was only carried out on a limited basis, as the original settlers were extremely protective of the planet's natural habitat.

Ruled by a handful of noble houses that make up the planetary government, it has recently gone through several changes.  About a generation before the Clone Wars, mining and manufacturing has been explored more and more, though always in the safest, least harmful manner for the environment; recent advances in mining technology have allowed this to prosper.  Though some conservatives still complain, the planet is clearly headed toward becoming a major center for Droid parts manufacturing.  Unfortunately, during the events of the Clone Wars, several members of the planetary government had already been deeply involved with the Trade Federation and the Commerce Guild due to new manufacturing plants opening up on the planet.  This has caused a deep rift between the conservative members of the government and the ''nouveau riche'' involved in interplanetary trade.
