==Background== The fourth son of a noble house from Hive Sibellus, Nikol had few choices of any sort of career unless he wanted to be a layabout and jockey for a lesser position in the house. Wishing to do something other than be a middle manager for his life, Nikol was enrolled in a military academy and was soon fast-tracked through the officer's program in the Navy. Pre-naturally adapt at piloting, he would have raised to at least a Captain's position if he showed a bit more attention to detail and was more perceptive in his duties. Instead, his career seemed to stall out once he was made a helmsman of the Relentless Assault. The Relentless Assault saw action in one of the opening skirmishes of the Thirteenth Black Crusade. Unfortunately, when the Imperial Cruiser was blindsided by a full torpedo salvo and crippled. Stories vary about what exactly happened, but Nikol was brought up on charges of abandoning his post in the face of the enemy. While such a charge, if found with merit, would have been an death sentence; several members of the crew including the naval commisar spoke up that and claimed that Nikol had threatened to melt down the Mechanicus on board if they hadn't restored the ship to function by the time he reached the Enginarium. Along the way, several components were brought back to functionality which several repair crews claim they were organized and set to task by the 2nd Lieutenant (Or more than likely his naval Bolt Pistol). Naval scuttlebutt claimed that there was several backroom dealings surrounding the court martial, as the initial charges were brought about by a member of a rival noble house seeking to besmirch the honor of the Casmirre name. At the end, the public record states that Nikol was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in his actions to restore the Relentless Assault to service and saving countless lives. However, as he did leave his station contrary to orders, he was discharged with honors. Rather than crawling into a bottle of his beloved Amasec, Nikol made a bit of a name for himself as a pilot of every sort of vehicle across the sector from a tracked crawler to a gun cutter. Still, his one true love was steering ships in the dark of the void. *Noble Born -> Vaunted -> Call to War -> Calamity -> Renown
