==The Runner - Pain 7 (9 as swarm)== The runner is a former Awake who never became a Nightmare but chooses to dwell mostly in the Mad City. The Runner can traverse any surface, flat, angled, straight up and down, even ceilings, and can become a swarm of clockwork insects at will. The runner is mostly a benign presence in the Mad City as far as the Awake are concerned, but he is constrained by the deal he made with Old Scratch to exist as he does. ====Clockwork Insects==== Delicately wrought of copper, brass, and iron to perfectly resemble and mimic actual insects - flies, roaches, locusts, centipedes - Clockwork Insects can be found in abundance everywhere within the Bizarre Bazaar, flitting about, examining everything, suddenly there and suddenly gone. But it is when they are spotted in the Quarters outside the Bazaar that they are most valuable. If a Clockwork Insect is seen outside the Bizarre Bazaar it means that a hidden entrance to the Bazaar is close at hand. The Awake can use these sightings to escape the Quarter they are in and enter the Bazaar. This does not require a dice roll, merely a willingness to follow the Clockwork Insect where it leads. '''Note:''' No point of the Bizarre Bazaar exits into Paradox Square, and Clockwork Insects are unable to lead characters into the City Slumbering, even though it is possible for characters to stumble into when randomly exiting the Bazaar. ----
