== Tour == Have you ever heard of the mighty Empire of Chaos, of its haughty Lords, uncountable Legions of Beasts and Men, of Wizards and Shape-shifters, of its endless Shadow-colonies ? Well, let me tell you a secret about this Chaos. It does not exist. Should you be unlucky enough to enter the Realms of Chaos, you will find no empire and no legions, no colonies. What you will see is one city. In one street, you will encounter beggar prophets, in another one, Minotaur nihilists, columns of ant-like travellers searching for a way out or aesthete djinns selling bottled humans in exchange of an oath and a soul. Perhaps you path will cross that of the Vitus Dancers, they will invite you in their bacchanal and you will sing, laugh, drink, play music and dance until your death by exhaustion. Chaos is but one city. Yet, what city it is. None, it is said, has ever walked from one extremity to another. Perhaps it has no boundaries and only reaches deep into Shadows, in all directions, up to the point where Shadows themselves are devoured by the Abyss. Stories abound of armies of Chaos dwellers or creatures of steel or magic, spawned by wizards or Lords, or perhaps by the Pit itself to seize the city. All the stories end with the would-be conqueror disappearing, dreams of dominance broken, swallowed by the mist as so many unfinished cosmic jokes. There are splendors in Chaos. The omnipresent statue of the Serpent, the arrogant Philosopher Garden, the Arcades of Vapor as well as many of the Citadels, the long-lost Logrus and the fabled Tower of the Swayvil. There are also perils in Chaos. Woe unto whoever opens his eyes in the Street of Mirrors, as he may be anywhere, anywhen and anyone. Cursed is whoever drunks of the Wine of Legion, for Legion becomes him, and fortunate is the one who escapes the workshops of the Clock Makers without realizing that he is but a clockwork copy of whoever he remembers being. What there is not in Chaos is a map or a law or a calendar. Chaos has no maps for Chaos is always shifting. At any moment, a part of the city might be plunging into the Abyss, or may emerge from Shadows, or may change shape along with its inhabitants. Numerous travellers have crossed familiar streets to discover centuries-old empires on their doorsteps, sometimes with memories of having ever been part of the city. Chaos has no calendars for time is a subjective notion, which flows in more than one way, nor is causality a necessity. Legends of the past feats of heroes are known to have been whispered before the birth of these heroes. As for laws, Chaos has no laws, for none could be enforced at the scale of such a city.
