Bales House School is not located in the best part of town.  Then again, it is hardly regarded as the best school.  Bales is perhaps most noteworthy for poor academic standards and the poor behavior of its students, even in public.  It is by no means only the boys who are the source of the problem, either-- indeed, "Bales House Girls" is a byword for trouble in many quarters.

Some hoped, with [[Steel Warrior Hana Jeong|Hana Jeong]] and [[NPCs of note#Judy Nesmith|Judy Nesmith]] transferring to Ashford Academy, that the worst days of the Bales House Girls were over.  There is no reason to believe this to be true, however-- Hana was not without rivals, and if anything, the power vacuum created by her absence has only made things uglier in Bales House.
