== History  ==
Popelie was settled during the [[Starfall:_Epic_Virus|Exodus]] in around 2137.  It slowly grew to a maintainable population over the next 20 - 30 years.  

For the first part of its history Popelie was a kind of isolationist, and did not get involved in the affairs of other systems.  In around 2208, Popelie did support Sol and Halo with resources during the [[Starfall:_Stellar_War|Stellar War]], but it never devoted a large number of troops to the war.

After the war's end Popelie joined the [[Starfall:_Port_Freedom#Galactic_Senate|Galactic Senate]] and became a popular destination for veterans trying to forget about the war.  This caused a boom in Popelie art and culture which increased its notability in the rest of the universe.  In 2238, a virus ran rampant throughout Popelie and ended its cultural boom.  The virus was eventually brought under control with the help of doctors from [[Starfall:_Cassi|Cassi]].

Recovered from the plague Popelie began relief efforts in Shesha in 2247.  These efforts where met with hostility by Seshan tribal warlords who killed 13 of the relief workers.  Popelie sent thousands of troops to [[Starfall:_Sesha|Sesha]] in order to intervene in a number of local conflict between local waring tribes.  Popelie did fall under some criticism from some parties that said that Popelie caused the conflicts to escalate.  Some of these efforts were more successful that others.  Popelie maintained a military presence in Sesha until finally withdrawing in 2256.

In 2263 Popelie was overtaken by conservative politicians who turned attention to industrial growth and tried to dispose of the more sexual aspects of Popelie culture, claiming that rampant sexuality was harming the culture and preventing stability.  Popelie was economically successful during this period, but many consider it a low point in Popelie culture.  Also there were frequent accusations of abuse of power and corruption during this time.

In 2281 entered into a "Golden Age".  A number of prominent artists of every type revived Popelie's sexual culture.
