== Background ==

Background: In a world relatively new to the Imperial Truth, it is vitally important that the Adeptus Ministorum maintains a strong grip on the collective consciousness. A hundred years is but an eyeblink in the life of the Imperium, and a world of this value must be shepherded to the welcoming arms of the Ecclesiarchy. Particularly fervent adherents to the truth on Cale's Landing are quickly identified, trained and then thrust forward as living examples of the Emperor's Will. In the case of Godwinne Ershire, the formation of the 1st Cale Rifles demanded priests to insure proper adherence to the expectations of the Ministorum in their role as living propaganda. However, whatever his education, the pragmatic nature of all Calean's all but insures he will find himself in the midst of a inevitable culture clash between his people and his superiors.

This is only further highlighted by his outspoken support for abhumans and their greater integration into Imperial society. Ogryns, in particular, after seeing a vanguard of them released in a fruitless charge on a fortified position by an uncaring general. Despite their undeniably simplistic nature, the auxiliaries attached to the 1st Cale Rifles have begun to call him a "Little 'Un" behind his back, and he, in turn, cares for them as if they were themselves Calean.
