The experiments that Chilton worked upon David have supercharged his nervous system. At first, he had no control over this, and life was quite unbearable for him. But, with time, David's learnt how to control this sensitivity somewhat, and employ it only when he so chooses. As of late, this sensitivity has given David a way to feel and channel Yeller Belly's spiritual powers, granting him a new power when Yeller Belly is nearby.
