Perspicacity Harper was born in Tolkeen when that state was still a prosperous and (largely) benevolent place to live. She never showed any aptitude for magic, but her fascination with the natural world and the wonders of the Golden Age served her well in any case – she studied both assiduously, and her knowledge led her to travel widely in the lands outside, sponsored by her university, to search out lore from the lost world, preserve from destruction or exploitation by the Coalition, and spread it for the good of all. She has seen a lot of North America, including lands controlled by nations opposed to Tolkeen, and has traded ideas with a great variety of people. She has developed a strong set of skills for delving into the ruins of the past and overcoming their security measures and other hazards.

When the might of the Coalition rose against Tolkeen, she volunteered to stand in its defense, and showed more than a little talent for leading soldiers – despite taking much of her knowledge from the warriors of ancient times rather than modern military training. When the capital collapsed and Lord Coake's forces arrived to evacuate survivors, they found Perry and the remnants of her unit defending the shattered university library. Leaving behind so much valuable knowledge in the rubble was the first time Perry had really wept in years.

When Perry learned of the founding of the Tomorrow Legion on her arrival at Castle Refuge, she didn't hesitate a moment before putting her skills and knowledge at its disposal.
