Masked vigilante active in Chicago during the 1930's and 40's. His true identity was that of millionaire playboy Lawrence Carter. Several accounts indicate Carter possessed such posthuman abilities as inhuman shooting skill, hypnotic power and invisibility, among others. The Whisperer employed a Chinese man, Yongjie, as his personal driver. This man would later on assume the identity of the [[#Mist| Mist]]. Though fighting all crime bosses, Carter had a bitter enmity towards [[#Lo Pan| Lo Pan]], an Asian crimelord. The Whisperer's last appeared on December 1st, 1949, one day after his final confrontation with his Asian nemesis.
