==Characteristics==

Shaiya is sharp as a razor and can speak with confidence on just about every subject.  The social rigors of the Athena Academy helped curb that trait.  She acts seriously for her age and doesn't have any peers to hang out with on the John B.  There's quite a gulf of life experience between her and the other officers, so she keeps to herself, reading much of the time.  She has a strong sense of right and wrong (Zeon remnants, Titans holdouts, pirates and terrorists are wrong) and that's something she doesn't hesitate to speak up on.  

Shaiya is a 5'6” young woman, her build on the slender side, with pale amber skin thanks to her mixed Asian and Scottish heritage.  She has bright red hair cut short on the back and sides with bangs that are usually slicked straight back along the top of her head.  She's almost always in uniform and they're always sharply creased.  She has a pilot suit for vacuum situations instead of a standard normal suit, as one of the reserve MS pilots.  Shaiya has no piercings and keeps her makeup in reserve for special occasions. Her posture is always military correct, or as much as possible in micro gravity.

Decorating her wall is her academy sword, based on the old American 1913 model cavalry saber.  It's grip shows considerable use... fencing classes were part of the curriculum.  She doesn't have any duelling scars... at least none visible.  

She is also a latent Newtype, though she and those she knows put any enhanced insight down to natural skill.
