==Age of Wonders - the AVENGERS 1888== ===issue #5=== : M&M presents:
AVENGERS UNDONE - Part II: "Time to DIE Avengers"
December 14, 2007.
GM: KEVIN :: ISSUE PREVIEW: ::: ...our faithful readers have already seen the unveiling of the Odinson's step-brother in the shadowy peak of the Great Pyramid of Rama-Tut! In issue #5 we will see the true power at the cause of the great strife that has brought the British Empire's Egyptian protectorate to its knees... In this issue we meet this would be conqueror and learn his dreadful plans!! ::: Issue #5 - AVENGERS UNDONE - Part II: "Time to DIE Avengers!" ::: Goes on-sale tomorrow, Friday - December 14th at 5:30pm! ::: Stand straight & stay tuned TRUE BELIEVERS!! :: ISSUE RECAP: ::: Escaping the massive hands of the Egyptian Terracotta Growing Warriors from beneath the Great Sphinx, the Avengers follow the Unknowable Spyder-Man who has found an ancient vault doorway leading beneath a secret Causeway tunnel toward the Great Pyramid of Rama-Tut. Spyder-Man, having heard the calls of fellow teammate Marshal America, finds a strange mettle box, roughly the size of a small loaf of bread, hidden in the cracked recesses of the tunnel tomb - it seems to be echoing the voice of the Marshal, much like the crackling of the strange gramaphone devices of Mr. Ronald Pershing (aka. Colonel Ulysses Klaue, aka. Phonograph), yet this black mettle box had no such hardware... ::: As Spyder-Man continued his discoveries the other Avengers made there way into the Causeway Tunnel, bypassing the trapped device newly placed on the ancient tomb vault door - a device that seemed to radiate an electrical charge (after being broken by the Spyder-Man's arachnid powered punch)... Transporting dimensionally Dr. Estrange brings the others beyond the door as they investigate and dismantle the strange blinking candle lamp attached to the backside of the door with a gray puddy. ::::: [Editor's note: In reality what our Victorian Era Avenger friends could not possibly know is that these items are to be the first of the technology for which the time-travelling madman - Kang the Conqueror will use to destroy the team. The former "device" for which Marshal America's voice emitted from - a World War II era Walkie Talkie, the latter puddy and mettle box with blinking lamp - a good quantity of plastic explosives attached to its detonator timer!!] ::: Finding their way to the massive pit created weeks ago, the Avengers find a newly constructed rope bridge crossing the chasm. Seeing that Argonaut's weight would not be supported, Dr. Estrange conjures an air cushioning spell to hold the Mettle-Avenger's weight aided by Spyder-Man's reinforcing of the bridge with his webbing... Making there way deeper beneath the Great Pyramid Spyder-Man spies strange symbols on the walls of the tunnel - symbols that Argonaut decipher as ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs - markings that tell a story not yet made! One in which the Avengers would fight for their lives against strange men, one wielding a massive blade, the other throwing lightning and a lizard thunder beast that prophesied swallowing Spyder-Man whole!! The one that would shortly follow!!! ::: Into the main tomb chamber - the Avengers see the lavish interiors left generations ago for the ruler of this land... Rama-Tut the Undying! Gold, gems, artifacts of ancient make filled the room. But so to did the voice of their teammate Marshal America! Emanating from the sarcophagus of Rama-Tut, the team quickly uncovers Captain Rodgers who has amazingly been transported from the Americas (when last they saw him) trapped inside this tomb?!?!!
Meanwhile John Henry, listening to the voices in the either agree to the Odinson's demands and slips his way inside the sarcophagus tomb... disappearing ... for now...
But for his fellow Avengers, soon this deathtrap would be unveiled - as Marshal America catapulted for the door triggering the trap ... ::::: [Editor's note: How could the Avengers have known that Marshal America suffered the same fate as the previously controlled Argonaut? One in which the Either Phantom would betray them!!] ::: ... as the tomb door began to collapse the voice of a dictator projected from the corner of the tomb - the device uncovered by Dr. Estrange was large as a desk top, flat and erect. Made of black mettle and shiny wood-like material. It began to speak!! And the image of Kang projected onto its surface!! and delivers his speach. :::: Master of time, Ruler of the mystic realm of limbo, where things never change.
"Put away your childish weapons. They are no more than toys to me!
I will not communicate with underlings! Send me the rulers of your primitive world so that I, Rama-Tut, can tell them my demands!

No need for such unseemily speed!
Time means nothing to Rama-Tut the Ruler!!

My business? Conquest of course, I claim this planet, this era and all its land areas as my domain. >br> As for you 'Avengers', I shall demonstrate how powerless you are against the immortal pharoah! At a mere touch of a button I shall render you helpless.

It is hopeless to defy me... My name may sound strange because it is not of your century - it is from the future! The machine I travel came from the year 4000, the 40th century is barbaric savages with men constantly at war, fighting with weapons so scientifically advanced that they cannot even understand theri composition. It was a simple matter for me to muster the barbarian warriors to my side, to make them my serfs! Within weeks I had carved out an empire for myself. But it was a hollow one! For I was merely ruler of a dying world. So possessing the greatest scientific knowledges of all time... armed with the weapons against which you have no defense... I proclaim myself KANG the first, ruler of the 19th century.

True I have removed myself to Limbo! But by the powers at my command I shall send another to battle in my sted... For I have all the warriors of the ages to choose from!"
A boom not unlike the crack of thunder breaks the looping speach and in the back of the tomb three portals show shadows stepping forth!! ::::: [Editor's note: Yet again - the future invades the 19th century as this gizmo of unknown nature speaks. The device - a 42" plasma television display screen, powered by a remote battery unit hidden in the corner of the tomb. These same units would be delivered to the rulers of the various countries across the world as we speak, beginning the demands of the Conqueror!!] ::: Tune in next time True Believers! : TEAM ROSTER: Marshal America, Argonaut, Dr. Estrange, Spyder-Man, Thor : ISSUE APPEARANCES: KANG the Conqueror (via recorded screen) : ISSUE CAMEOS/MENTIONED: Merlin the Magician, Atilla the Hun, T-Rex ::TOTAL CURRENT Level & Experience: PL8; 128pp See you next time True Believers! ----
