The sword is the weapon of the duelist so close combat skills are in high regard but the sword is also the weapon of the civilized warrior so they also strive to be warrior-poets. Thus they value the pen and true marksmanship as well. They don't refuse to use imprecise heavy weapons like the autocannon and heavy bolter but they relegate them to use by younger brothers and scouts. They prefer precision weapons like the lascannon, plasmagun and stalker-pattern bolter.
