Line 1: Line 1:
Characters in the Æther campaign setting may be either from Earth or from Æther. Characters from Earth must be human, but may be wizards if they choose. Characters from Æther may be humans or any of the many other races available. They may also be wizards. The base Tech Level for the campaign is 8, which is standard on Earth. However, most people from Æther are only familiar with their own world's Tech Level, which is (3+1), and worth -20 points. Many nonwizards from Earth will have the Mundane Background disadvantage (Worth -10 points), while wizards from Earth must take a -10-point Secret (Wizard). These traits do not count against the campaign disadvantage cap. Note that wizards are born and not made; this means that any character wishing to be a wizard must purchase their appropriate level of Magery during character creation or else buy it as a Secret Advantage.
