== Background == ---- The 289th Artillery Regiment is new (less than a year old), but has already seen combat in several attacks against the Rebellion. Due to its size, it is most often broken up into batteries to support Brigades or Regiments. == Line composition == A Line is made up of 6 artillery sections (totaling 48 men), 1 line squad (totaling 9 men) and 1 heavy weapons squad (totaling 9 men) with a Platoon Sergeant (ranked a Staff Sergeant) and Lieutenant in command. Thus, a platoon totals 68 men. == Battery composition == A battery is made up of 6 lines of 68 men each (totaling 408 men), two assault platoons (which do away with the armor section in exchange for 2 extra heavy weapons squads, totaling 74 men apiece and 108 together) and a 28 (including the company commander and Master Sergeant) man headquarters and support element. Thus, a company totals 540 men. They are commanded by captains with the staff officers being lieutenants == Battalion composition == A Battalion is made up of 8 batteries of 540 men each (totaling 3240 men), 2 assault companies (totaling 592 men) and a 368 man headquarters and support element (including the battalion commander and a Sergeant Major). Thus, a battalion totals 4,200 men. The battalions are commanded by majors, with the staff officers being captains. == Regiment composition == The Regiment is made up of 6 artillery battalions of 4,200 men each (totaling 25,200 men), 1 scout troop (totaling 460 men), 1 assault battalions (totaling 868 men), 1 repulsorlift battalion (totaling 952 men) and a 2,520 man headquarters ans support element (including the regimental commander and the Regimental Sergeant Major). Thus, the whole regiment totals 30,000 men. The regiment is commanded by a colonel with its staff officers being majors.
