== Background == ---- The 329th Armored Regiment. Fair combat record (when it is used, which is not much) and average strength. Against doctrine (which states that the regiment should be deployed wholesale as part of a Battlegroup), it is often deployed as companies as part of brigades. Also unusually it does away with the repuslorlift battalions (and companies) and assault battalion in exchange for another 4 armored battalions. == Platoon composition == A platoon is made up of 8 armor sections (totaling 66 men) with a Platoon Sergeant (ranked a Staff Sergeant) and Lieutenant in command. Thus, a platoon totals 68 men. == Company composition == A company is made up of 8 platoons of 68 men each (totaling 544 men) and a 6 man command tank (including the company commander and Master Sergeant). Thus, each company has 550 men. Each company is commanded by a captain and the support element is with the Battalion (or if detached, brigade) headquarters and thus not counted among the company. == Battalion composition == A Battalion is made up of 8 companies of 550 men each (totaling 4,400 men) and a 200 man headquarters and support element (including the battalion commander and a Sergeant Major). Thus, a battalion totals 4,600 men. With companies commanded by Majors, each battalion is commanded by a Colonel, with the staff officers being Majors. == Regiment composition == The Regiment is made up of 8 battalions of 4,600 men each (totaling 35,200 men) and a 2,800 man headquarters ans support element (including the regimental commander and the Regimental Sergeant Major). Thus, the whole regiment totals 38,000 men. It is commanded by a colonel with its staff officers being majors.
