[[4SRD:Main Page|4SRD]] > FAQ ==Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)== ===The Project=== ====What are you trying to achieve here?==== It's natural that roleplaying games evolve and change. But with every edition change, there are those that want continued support for the previous edition for any kind of reason. Now, with the D20SRD and the OGL, a lot of material has been put under a permissive license that allows to create open gaming content. Retro clones make it possible to play the game according to rules of previous editions, so why not do the same for the 4th? At the current stage, this is meant to be an open ressource where everyone can contribute. In the future, someone might take this content as a basis to develop a new, full-fledged RPG. ===Collaboration=== ==== 1. Who can edit? ==== Anyone, within the guidelines of this wiki. ===Editing=== ==== 1. How do I add an article? ==== Pick a public source of the d20SRD, such as [http://www.d20srd.org d20srd.org]. Copy the open gaming content, put the URL of your source in the summary and hit "save page". Then, start editing the content as necessary. ==== 2. How to convert? ==== The most important rule is: Respect copyright. To be on the safe side, assume that any name of a spell or game mechanic that is NOT in the original d20SRD or in a different work marked as "Open Gaming Content" is off-limits. Therefore, we need to be creative: Use names from open gaming content or invent your own. Example: "Paragon Path" is copyrighted by Wizards of the Coast, but not under Open Gaming License. We cannot use it here. However, "Prestige Class" is in the SRD, so we can use it. If in doubt, use the d20SRD name / rule / text / convention. ==== 3. How to format? ==== Not much fixed yet, we need templates. # Start each article title (lemma) with '''4SRD:''' # Use singular titles: 4SRD:Class, not 4SRD:Classes # Add breadcrumbs to the top, like this: [[4SRD:Main Page|4SRD]] > FAQ # Add <nowiki>[[Category:4SRD]]</nowiki> to the bottom (we'll need to figure out subcategories) ==== 4. Licensing ==== All content under "4SRD:" is under the Open Game License. All original Open Gaming Content that is copied here is under the copyright of its original creator (mostly WotC). Please leave a disclaimer and a link to the [http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/ogl.html OGL] in all articles that contain open gaming content. What you post here is also published under the Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license, as per [[RPGnetWiki:Copyrights]]. Note: I Am Not A Lawyer, I don't know how these two licenses interact. If you can shed light on this issue, please do. [[Category:4SRD]]
