You met Alain when you and he were hunting a red dragon. While it just was a wyrmling every helping hand was appreciated and you joined forces. After you defeated the dragon, Alain stayed with the party and with his uncanny ability to find some dangerous beasts he was a welcome addition.
He doesn't talk about his past, but the things he mentioned, you discern that he is the son of a noble family far away and now is out "adventuring" for money and glory. You don't know his real second name and when he introduces himself he uses a lot of names like dragondoom...

His appearance isn't very unusual, except for the amount of trophies he carries. Aside from the obvious he has monster teeth and scales and similar stuff all over him as part of his attire. And he always wears his eyepatch, even though you know that both his eyes are healthy
