* Born in 2234 aboard SS Proxima Horizon, a family-run freighter that's been in mostly-continuous operation (interrupted mainly for upgrades) since 2123.  Has relatives that settled on space stations or near spaceports in many worlds on a broad smear running through Federation space roughly galactic east-west from Earth.  Oldest child, would have inherited the freighter, but wanted to be part of something bigger.
* Graduated Starfleet Academy 2255, stationed as 3rd shift helmsman aboard [https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Europa ''USS Europa''].
*[Career Event] ''USS Europa'' responded to the distress call from ''USS Shenzhou'', in the incident later known as the [https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Battle_of_the_Binary_Stars Battle of the Binary Stars], which marked the beginning of the [https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Federation-Klingon_War_(2256-57) Federation-Klingon War of 2256-57].  Ananthi was assigned to ready the Admiral's shuttle for the possibility of negotiation at a neutral site, and thus ready for immediate launch when the ''Europa'' was rammed by a concealed Klingon warship and the order to abandon ship was given.  In the chaos of resumed hostilities, she was able to string up a total of ten lifeboats before the attention of a Klingon Bird-of-Prey turned to her shuttle, and she warped out at just barely the last moment before its disruptors would have torn her shuttle apart.  No other lifeboats from ''Europa'' were recovered, and (despite a negative self-assessment of her own performance) she received a commendation.

Scheduled to take command of the ''USS Hathaway'' after ''Callisto'''s decommissioning in 2285; with delays in the Hathaway's launch, she first burned off her extensive accrued shore leave, and then took up shore duty at the Copernicus shipyards to bend her logistical skills towards "shoving her ass out of spacedock already".
