Name used by the vagabond that Pavel and Eren met in the [[Arkat_Alumnus_Places#Graveen Marshes|Graveen Marshes]]. He suffers from some arcane affliction that has left him without a shadow - the result, he claims, of being tortured by a group of sorcerers he calls the [[Arkat_Alumnus_Groups#Nest_of_Vipers|'nest of vipers']].

He said that he was a former comrade of Pavel's father, a claim confirmed by Pavel's [[#Bojek|Uncle Bojek]], but Bojek told Pavel that this man had been responsible for getting Garan into trouble after they both absconded with a cargo they had been guarding. Later Garan told Bojek "There is no Ugo, nor ever was" and said that the man was "dead, or as good as".
