In his Awakening, Randell come to the conclusion that Atlantis ("the Awakened City") and its Watchtowers are not from the past, but from the far future; that the "angels" of the Aether are actually the psionic thought-forms of humanity, sending its transmissions and technology in a form we call "magic" to prevent a great cataclysm. - after his Awakening, Randell discovers a group of NY Pentacle mages that induct and train him. He takes the name "Atom Kadmon" as his shadow name, and even manages to convince some of the Free Council of his ideas before most of his old Cabal is snuffed out by Seer forces. In desperation, he flees to Chicago.
