===Background===

A somewhat sickly child, Abigail never been abroad - indeed, Avalon Academy is probably as far from her home - over a hundred miles! - As she ever was. Admittedly, her health probably isn't that bad, and a vacation trip or two wouldn't hurt her... Mostly it was a case of overprotective parenting on the side of her mother.

Of course, that could be explained by her father having died abroad, and her mother, a kind-hearted, but simple-minded woman, declaring "abroad" to be a dangerous, terrible place... Isn't it better for her beloved daughter to always be nearby, quietly reading... No one dies from reading a book, right? (Well, not really, but still.) And the girl did like to read, devouring books almost regardless of subject. But is was these books exactly that made Abigail dream of foreign and exotic... Mostly, the writings of that Frenchman who became a big thing recently, ''monsieur Verne''. His ''Voyages Extraordinaires'' were everything that her own life wasn't - vibrant, exciting, ''different''.

In school, she does good in class - except, obviously, when it comes to sports. As for her relationship with other girls - well, she doesn't stand out much, properly polite, but not specifically exceptionally refined. Two notable exceptions are miss Blewett, whose stories about living in India Abigail could listen for hours on end, and miss Rigby, who, in Abigail's opinion, tends to lack the proper demure. (Besides, Abigail is slightly afraid of Raven... not that she'd admit it, even to herself)
