From humble beginnings, that’s how the saying starts.

And how humble were the beginnings of Miriam Jones, a young cleaning lady that had found work in a military installation near Cardiff during the heydays of World War II. Who could have envisioned that it would be this young girl who rose up against the enemy agents, broom in hand, and fought them almost to her final breath?

Bleeding from a bullet wound, we are uncertain how she came to find herself in the Super Soldier Chamber and how it came to be activated. Perhaps one of the dying scientists, aware that the Chamber’s damage would soon see it defunct and that the enemy agents had destroyed evidence of much of the work, placed her there, knowing that young, brave Miriam was their last hope.

How life changed for Miriam. She was a bold new breed of superhuman, strong enough to throw a tank, resistant enough to shrug off bullets. Of course, the nation had to use her.

The Bombshell, Britain’s first (allegedly) Super Soldier, was a petite, blonde Welsh girl from a coal mining family who had never been anywhere more exotic that Swansea. Suddenly she was the nation’s darling, fighting alongside the troops on the front and defending her home and people.

Quite the change. Miriam remained a true heroine throughout the war, an inspiration to all and carried on her work as the years went by. That young girl from the valleys turned out to be quite he surprise, for not only was she a physical powerhouse, but she turned into a tactical genius, a great leader and a revolutionary spark in the field of women’s rights.

So many stories to tell, but her current tale is to be found here, in Nexus City, where she has accepted the role as Team Leader of this ragtag group of alien and alternate superbeings that is being formed.

Not bad for a woman in her late 80’s, but then a vastly decelerated aging process has probably helped in that regard…..
