*'''Max -''' Max is a shaggy brown mutt, similar in size to a Labrador but leaner and more square jawed. Like Fletch, Max is getting grey around the muzzle. These days, he spends most of his time sleeping on the floor of the barber shop or roaming the streets of Boston.

== Background==
Fletcher is an old alumni of the ''New Old Way Home'', and in turn he returned to work there as a volunteer handyman of sorts when he wasn't in his shop cutting hair. Wasn't much Fletch couldn't do to one degree of competence or another, and he made himself useful.

He cooked, he cleaned, he fixed things. He was always kind to the kids, listening to them like they were adults, bringing themm rock candy he made himself, and generally offering encouragement - and sometimes work here and there when he had it.

Fletcher is the curious sort and always busy, always learning new things.

Not all of his activities are strictly legal, but on the surface he tries to stay clean and foster a reputation that is above suspicion.
