===Background===
Brian was captured by the machines early in the war and experimented on - and the machines found that his brain had a natural resonance to the machines. They put an implant in his brain and he could communicate and command a swarm of nanorobots. They broke him down mentally and made him help the machines integrate cyborg implants into his fellow humans. But he hated them for it and in the small corner of his brain he built up rebellion. When the opportunity came, he was ready and escaped with others. Still, there are times when the nanorobots (or nanites) whisper to him in the dark of night...

===Roleplaying Notes===
====Nanorobots (nanites)====
Brian's Metal Powers are described in the Super Powers Companion (and Necessary Evil) as Super Sorcery, however the trappings in character are from a swarm of nanorobots that are under his command. To command the swarm (and "cast" a "spell") he must be able to move his hands and speak. If successful, the nanorobots then follow his command and replicate the power of the spell with appropriate psuedo-technical trappings.

Some common commands that Brian has worked out with the nanoswarm:
*Nanite Shield! [Deflection] A cloud of black nanorobots leaks from his right jacket sleeve like gray smoke. The smoke swirls around Brian, suddenly solidifying for brief flashes as the nanites deflect the path of an incoming projectile.
