== Year == 1,760 of the Alacarn Calender == Holidays of Alacarn == ''' Burn Light (Paalok 1st):''' A feast to mark the arrival of Spring Time. Burn Light is a sacred holiday to the goddess Demae. While in rural regions and those in considerable distress, still mark the occasion with human sacrifice, more often it's only effigies that are burned or birds that are cut apart. It is a time of merry making and young couples to exchange vows. ''' Crown Day (Veethor 8th):''' Crown Day celebrates the foundation of the Alacarn Empire, that it is still remembered fondly even after its fall. It is tradition for all war to go into three day suspension so that tournaments can be held and treaties negotiated. ''' God's Feast (Kaalon 27th):''' God's Feast is a day devoted to the arrival of Summer and the collected worship of all Twelve Gods. It is a surprisingly rowdy holiday with athletic contests to Vulthoo, parties dedicated to Sybus, and giant mock battles in celebration to Paalok. God's Feast is the most important holiday of the Alacarn calendar and one eagerly looked forward to by most. ''' Summer Rise (Sybus 20):''' The Summer Rise celebration is devoted to the arrival of the new season. Summer Rise is a stately affair where individuals gather their families together for formal gatherings and dinners. Solemn services in the veneration of Heton and Paalok are made. The monuments to the dead are visited with candles purchased from Kaalon's temples to be lit in veneration of the honored fallen. Weddings are often performed on Summer Rise, heralding a new era of prosperity. ''' Shadow dwell (Obaq 30th): ''' Shadow dwell is a holiday rife with superstition and terror. A sacred day to Kaalon, it is one less for the veneration of the dead than to their warding away. Shadow dwell is a holiday that has a wealth of superstitions about it that leave even stout hearts uneasy. Many wealthy individuals gather together in parties less because of amusement than a desire to be in large groups until sunrise. Criminals, Followers of Malaxas, Lilin, and worse consider this one of the best times to perform ill deeds. ''' Winter Pass (Wynessa 21st):''' Winters are never a cause for celebration in Alacarn. Surviving them is something that is always touch and go outside of urban areas (while even they often have to tighten their belts). Thus, Winter Pass is a holiday of reasonably good cheer and happiness. It is a time of praise to both Demae and Obaq along with minor feasting. One important tradition is the sacred bonfire that is often lit at the heart of a community in celebration. ''' Year Mark (Wynessa 31st): ''' Year Mark is an occasion for marking the passage of years. Rather than celebrate the individual birth of children, whom may or may not make it past childhood, instead it is a place where all individuals are marked as a year older. Presents are exchanged on Year Mark and it is even more an occasion for optimism than Winter Pass. == Days of the Week == Alacarnday------------Sunday Kalinday--------------Monday Daviosday-------------Tuesday Wellday---------------Wedsday Feastday--------------Thursday Stryfeday--------------Friday Restday---------------Saturday == Months of Alacarn == Heton-----------------January Demae----------------February Sybus-----------------March Kaalon----------------April Paalok----------------May Filanti-----------------June Veethor---------------July Vulthoo---------------August Tyros-----------------September Obaq-----------------October Vaasti-----------------November Wynessa--------------December [[(Winterweir) In Search of the Unknown]]
