==Quick Summary Background==

Kumiko was a quiet girl, in her school in Japan, and a natural target for bullies-- especially with her obvious terror of spiders and bugs. Things went a little too far, one day, though, and she was locked in a spider-filled tool shed for three days before she was found, despite her screams.

...but by the third day, Kumiko had come to understand. Spiders weren't horrible. Spiders were fascinating. They were strong, too! She could learn to be like them! They were her friends!

When she emerged, the spiders were crawling in her hair, and Kumiko didn't mind. She started calling herself "Kumoko"-- Spider-girl-- and quickly showed that she'd learned something from the spiders.

How to fight.

Her style was uncanny, and she didn't hesitate to use it on those who'd bullied her, or who were cruel to others-- and after she left some classmates with surprisingly influential families in the hospital, her family decided to take a job offer in America, and get her out of the country for a while.

Now she's in a new school, and eager to make friends.
