On Devour's last job, his head was pierced in eleven places with shrapnel from an exploding Eladrin soulstone and even though the ship's medicks managed to pull most of it out, an inoperable splinter remains firmly lodged in his brain, afflicting him with rudimentary empathy, auditory hallucinations and an unwilling appreciation for the mammal "music". (Devour has to wear a special bucket-like enchanted helmet to put his hearing and heart rate into human range to able to listen to it. This is a highly frustrating situation all around.) The only reason Devour accepted the Spectre offer was because his therapists have recommended spending a period of time in closer contact with other species to learn how to manage his new bizarre personality issues.
