Downtime is divided into three months, during which characters can do the following: *Spell study as per ACKS (adding new spells to your repertoire or switching out spells. I haven't decided how to handle the *cost* of switching out spells. There will likely be a cost, but it probably won't be as punitive). Takes time as per book. *Spell research, scribing spells or brewing potions. Takes time as per book. *Learn a General Proficiency above and beyond what is allowed. Takes a full three months, anyone can do it. *Set up a syndicate as per Hijinks rule. This will take a full three months, I think, per urban center you want to do it in. I'm not 100% set on the time frame, though. There's going to be some fee associated with it, as well, that I haven't figured out yet. *Fuck with the levers in the Candle. Every month spent experimenting grants you one roll. It will be an Intelligence check using 5d6 (must roll under). One person must be in charge, and you get to add modifiers as follows: **Intelligence modifiers of everyone helping you. **+1 for every person assisting that can cast Commune, Augury or similar. Note that the bonuses stack per individual, so a person who can cast both adds a +2 bonus. **Any relevant research material the adventurers find will add bonuses, as well. Ulin's diary, for instance, is good for a +1 modifier (she never actually figured out exactly how everything worked, but she did experiment with enough levers to get an idea what they did individually). *I'm sure there's other stuff you guys can do that I'm not thinking of. Recruiting additional henches, mercenaries, specialists, etc. can be accomplished at the same time you're doing other stuff. *I'm not rolling for encounters, but it will take a flat week to travel from Wolf Keep to the Candle/Hob or from Hob to Junction (once inside the Scarlet Principalities you don't have to worry about travel time.). *Building will continue, but at half speed. Plus, the river will be frozen, so any materials you're going to need should be ordered before the end of Eleventhmonth. I've been including the boat locations in each post on the Tracking thread, so please tell me if you want to move stuff around.
