[[Category:FANGS]] [[Category:Character Creation]] {{Template:FANGSHeader}} ==Introduction to your Character== Every FANGS character is an individual, and each can have widely varying qualities. This section explains what qualities make up your character, and how you choose these qualities. You have many choices to make. Basic FANGS assumes your character starts out as a young person who knows little of the world. Up to this point he has lived a sheltered life, possibly on a farm, in a small town, at a creche, or just in a school or university. Like most young people your character has received some basic training and some general knowledge, but has little practical experience. After creation, it is time for your character to find his place in the world. ==Defining Your Character== Your character is measured by four different types of abilities. First are his Characteristics, which are general expressions of physical and mental ability. Next are his Attributes which are derived from his Characteristics. Your character may choose to have Advantages or Disadvantages. These are physical, emotional, or societal qualities that help make a character unique. Last are his Skills, which are expressions of his specific talents and abilities. ==Character Points== You get a certain number of Character Points in which to build your character. You use these character points to "buy" higher Characteristics, Advantages, or Skills for your character. You can also receive additional Character Points to spend if your character has low Characteristics or a Disadvantage. A typical novice adventuring character starts with 100 character points. In some cases GM may want you to create a more advanced adventuring character which might start with 150 to 200 character points. Once your character is created, record the character points used on the character sheet. They are not used for further advancement of the character, but can act as an ongoing measure of the progress of the character. See ''-Measuring Advancement-'' below.
