Technology is no longer as pervasive and awe inspiring as it once was although some places, like what was once known as Las Vegas but is now called the [[City of Lights]], has some fairly high tech, power armour, robots (including giant mechs and AI guided warbots), energy weapons and other technological marvels from the age of wonder that proceeded the current age in the walled off area around what used to be the Vegas Strip.

The area outside the Strip though is nothing but urban ruins and a lawless savage wasteland where might makes right and law enforcement and security is dependent on your own strength of arms.  Of course that's not always true as a few places run by those with the strength to enforce their will like a gangcult or religious organisation or criminal syndicate or some other group with enough weapons and people to enforce the rules they choose.
