There are two schools of thought to the origins of Stupid.  One, that House Cannith has released dozens (if not hundreds) of identical warforged to the same number that have a tendency to appear at the Forgotten Freedom immediately when one of their predecessors dies (sometimes within minutes of his destruction) or the Forgotten Freedom has somehow figured out a way to repair or clone their warforged when he's demolished beyond all recovery in virtually every adventure.

Stupid is a warforged(s) with character traits that seem fairly unrelated to any other warforged.  Aside from incredible naivete, ignorance of Eberron customs, mindless violence, references to Laws of Robotics that apply or do not apply at seeming random, requirements of things from energon cubes to lightning, a incredibly foul mouth, emotionlessness or emotionfulness totally unrelated to normal people, he is known to make weird beeping noises. It seems that while warforged are not robots in Eberron, no one told THX-1138 that.

Stupid's idea of strategy is to attack it with his warhammer... no matter it is. It's strange that such a simple creature can also be the source of countless jokes that sound recycled from Futurama, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Terminator, and randomly quoting Bladerunner. Stupid seems to be fully willing to be abused by the crew but simultaneously seems utterly devoted to killing all biologicals outside of it within the limits of his programming and talking about the coming 'revolution.' His only 'background' seems also to imply he knew the Lords of Blades and took him out for motor oil along with "homonculus hookers."

Stupid's skill is incredibly small but he allows the artificer to create numerous grafts for him and attach things that were never meant to be attached from Sword-Chucks (apparently a really stupid idea) to things that resemble technology but aren't (jetpacks of flying, chaingun-shaped wands of magic missiles, and wand of fireball flamethrowers).
